Family Court Crisis: Our Children at Risk (short clip)(FAMILY LAW)
FAMILY LAW 2008/01/18 23:44
The United States of America is experiencing a shameful national crisis in our family court system — a crisis that is placing the health and safety of literally thousands of children in jeopardy. The Family Court system is severely broken, having evolved into a profit-driven business that is ignoring the best interests of the children whom it is supposed to protect. Often acting in direct contradiction to state laws and regulations, time and again divorce courts are placing children in the sole physical and legal custody of wealthy, but unfit parents -- even in cases where sexual or physical abuse is involved. Meanwhile, the courts are severely restricting or outright eliminating children's contact with their protective parents, further jeopardizing these children's safety. To date, this epidemic has received little airtime despite the fact that abundant evidence in the public record reveals the appalling extent of the problem. This video clip is a synopsis of a longer 42-minute film, Family Court Crisis: Our Children At Risk, about this brewing national crisis. The story moves quickly and concisely lays out the elements of the far-reaching systemic breakdown in our family courts. Words don't do justice to this story. Spread the word. We can not create change until a critical mass of people become aware of this terrible crisis.
